**UPDATE: The Tappan Zee Bridge demolition has been postponed until further notice due to heavy winds. We’ll keep you updated when the festivities resume.**
Step aside, London Bridge—the Tappan Zee Bridge is falling down, and it’s going out with a bang. On Saturday, January 12, at 9:30am sharp, locals will be gathering-on-Hudson to bid a final farewell to the venerable river crossing between Westchester and Rockland counties by witnessing the span’s explosive demolition. Here are some local places to enjoy prime views and experience the dynamite occasion first-hand:
Don’t miss our special morning Open House at Greystone-on-Hudson.
Scenic Hudson Park | 1 Bridge Street, Irvington, NY 10533
The public park offers 12 acres of northward-facing waterfront grounds—one of the best vantage points imaginable. Grab coffee at BRZAAR and walk on down.
Hudson Farmer & The Fish | 11 River Street, Sleepy Hollow
The farm-to-table favorite in Hudson Harbor will serve up coffee and beignets, and a viewing platform on a retired FDNY fireboat that saw rescue service during 9/11 and the ”Miracle on the Hudson.”
Greystone-On-Hudson | 6 Carriage Trail, Tarrytown, NY 10591
Early arrivals to the gate house will be cleared to attend a special Open House (8:30-10:00am) at this new construction luxury estate, articulating the lasting legacy of the “Gold Coast” in today’s vernacular.
Lyndhurst | 635 S Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591
200 lucky cars will be allowed to enter the grounds of the Gilded Age manse beginning at 8am, enjoying some of the best close-proximity views. Passes are $20/vehicle—arrive early or stroll in on the Aqueduct Trail.
Sambal Thai & Malay | 4 W. Main Street, Irvington
A “Dim-Sum-struction” feast will commence at 9am, with a break between courses for diners to snag the best view on the outdoor patio.
Half Moon | 1 High Street, Dobbs Ferry
The waterfront eatery, which pokes into the river facing northward, will be serving a “Big Bang Brunch” complete with a bottomless mimosa special.
